I have complited my M.Phil Research on the topic: " Ethnographic Study of Denotified and Nomadic Tribes in Maharashtra: A Case of Davari Jogi/ Nath Panthi Davari Gosavi. I belong to this community. our community a nomadic tribes in Mharashtra but they also dont know their historic back ground. this our Davari community performs a role of the Village Priest and your community also perform a role of Priest. somewhere i feeling that their is must be any relation with the name Davari and Deori. why i am writing this because i have came across the some studies in britishers ethnographic and anthropologocal survey my community Davari they wrote as a Dauri, Daure etc. It great work by you on you community. all the best. if you want write me please email

NO. Deori cannot be related to Davari.Deori is a mongoloid tribe. The real name of this tribe is Jimochayaan and they were also called as Bodo many centuries back. The term deori is devired from sanskrit which means worshipper of god. People who do the rituals in chutiya kingdom were called deori. since some people from this tribe were priest of chutiya kingdom in past, they also got the name and likewise the whole tribe got this name deori which is an aryan word but the tribe itself has got nothing to do with aryans .
